Coaches Kim Wise and Zach VanHuis announce:
Our high school robotics team, 4855 Ramageddon, brought home the championship trophy from Saturday's West Michigan Robotics Invitational (WMRI)! While Ramageddon has won two previous competitions as an alliance partner, this was the first time in our team's history that we won an event as an alliance captain!
Ramageddon ended qualification matches in third place and following alliance selections, we entered the playoffs as the captain of the #2 alliance, joining forces with the Wayland Wildcats (Team 6090 out of Wayland), Code Red Robotics (Team 2771 out of Grandville), and the Spires (Team 9106 out of Grand Rapids). Together, our alliance defeated the #1 alliance, which included two of Michigan's most accomplished robotics teams: Strykeforce (Team 2767 out of Kalamazoo) and Average Joes (Team 3620 from St. Joseph). Their alliance also included Chaos (Team 74 out of Holland) and Globetrotters (Team 5927 out of Zeeland).
Our students and robot performed exceptionally well throughout the competition, going undefeated throughout the day, and we couldn't be prouder of their teamwork, leadership, problem-solving skills, and determination. Congrats to the following Ramageddon students who attended the WMRI: Neela Jones-Bonilla (Drive Team Coach), Carly Crawford (Robot Operator), Hayden Washegesic (Robot Driver), Johnny Hammond (Human Player), Jakeb Mills (Technician), Cooper Priebe (Scouter), Giselle Flores (Scouter).
