School Board Elections, 4 Open Seats, Filing Deadline July 24, 2018

Interested in Serving the Students of South Haven by Joining the Board of Education?

Here’s your chance! This November, the South Haven Public Schools community will have the opportunity to vote on four 4-year seats on the Board of Education but the campaign process for interested citizens starts now! 

Candidates for the South Haven Board of Education must submit a nominating petitions and affidavits of identity to be placed on the ballot in November! All necessary forms are available at the Superintendent's Office within the Administration Building located at 554 Green Street during business hours.

Please note important dates and qualifications for the upcoming School Board Election below. 

Filing Deadline: Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 4:00 PM

A completed School Board Candidate Affidavit of Identity and Receipt of Filing form is filed along with a $100.00 nonrefundable filing fee with the County Clerk

OR, instead of paying the filing fee:
File the School Board Candidate Affidavit of Identity and Receipt of Filing form and a School Nominating Petition with the required number of signatures with the County Clerk.

Signature requirements for the Nominating Petitions:
A minimum of 40 - maximum of 100

PLEASE NOTE: A separate nominating petition must be used for each city/township that you collect signatures from. Be sure to follow all instructions on the back of the nominating petition

Campaign Finance
Candidates are required to file a Statement of Organization with the County Clerk. See www.michigan.gov/sos - Elections in Michigan - Campaign Finance Disclosure for information and forms regarding Campaign Finance.

All candidates are required to keep records of their campaign expenses and provide all identifier ("Paid for by...") on all campaign material, signs, or ads.
If more than $1,000 are spent or received in donations for the election, candidates must contact the County Clerk for more information about the campaign finance forms and the required reports.
