First of all, thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process as we work our way through the obstacles as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. South Haven Public Schools is committed to formally recognizing our Senior Class of 2020, while balancing local, state, and federal directives and guidelines. SHHS has been committed to hosting a live Graduation Ceremony at Ratcliffe Field as a result of the feedback provided from surveyed senior class students.
Important Graduation Dates
July 17 at 12pm Graduation Practice at Ratcliffe Field (REQUIRED ATTENDANCE - STUDENTS)
July 19 at 12pm Graduation Ceremony at Ratcliffe Field
Overflow Viewing at SHHS / Rain Out Option
Graduation Ceremony at Ratcliffe Field
The details of the Ceremony are dependent on the restrictions and guidance in place at that time from the MDE and CDC. The Graduation Ceremony will likely be a ticketed event, depending on crowd restrictions and social distancing guidelines in place (currently 500 attendees) which would be 3 tickets per student. The Ceremony will be open seating with the choice of bleachers or on the field.
Overflow Viewing at SHHS
SHPS has also secured the services of TPC, which will allow for a drive in viewing option for additional family members and friends to view and listen to a live stream of the Graduation Ceremony at South Haven High School (South parking lot).
Rain Out Drive-Thru Option
If forced by an inclement weather situation we will refer to the Rain Out Drive-Thru Option. The Graduation will be held at South Haven High School and students (in cars with family members) will park in the South parking lot and tune in to the FM dial to wait for their name to be read. Once students hear their name they will drive to the stage in the SW corner of the parking lot and the student will exit the car and walk across the (sheltered) stage. The student will then get back into the car and park in the West parking lot to view the remainder of the Graduation Ceremony.
Students must attend Graduation Practice on Friday July 17th at 12pm in order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony on July 19th.
Sincerely,
Ryan Williamson
