Calendar Change - May 25, 2018 Full Day of School

School Calendar Change - May 25, 2018 Full Day of School
Posted on 04/20/2018
Dear South Haven Public Schools Families:

As we grow closer to the summer months and begin thinking about the end of the school year, we must examine the total number of student/teacher days held throughout the year to remain in compliance with state requirements. Considering the extreme weather conditions and number of school closings this winter, we are left 2 days short of the state mandated 180 student days this school year.

In an effort to maintain a June 13, 2018 release date, the district and the South Haven Educational Association have agreed to hold a full day of school on Friday, May 25, 2018 for both students and teachers to ensure compliance.

Further, the district has petitioned to the state to forgive the additional day in which we fall short of the requirements. If the state denies our request, the district will be forced to add Thursday, June 14, 2018 to the calendar as a full student and teacher day.

Once we receive word from the state regarding our forgiveness petition, we will notify our school community. In the meantime, if you have any questions regarding the calendar for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year, please contact your building principal.

Thank you for your flexibility and continued support of South Haven Public Schools.
